Summer Program for Young Composers!

The New York Summer Music Festival, where I teach alongside my good friend and colleague, Manuel Sosa, is now accepting applications for its 2015 sessions. There are two, two-week sessions, and young composers may apply to one or both. If you think you may know a young composer interested in this kind of program, please feel free to share this info!

The programs consist of:

• Daily seminars for analysis and discussion
• 2 private lessons per session, with the option of more
• A performance of a chamber work (of around 5 minutes) by the amazing NYSMF faculty
• A high-quality recording of your piece

Former students of mine at NYSMF have used this opportunity to obtain excellent recordings of their pieces which are vital to successful college applications. Some of NYSMF’s past participants have gone on to join the composition programs at Curtis, Juilliard, Yale, NEC, Boston Conservatory, and many other fine institutions. Please consider it for yourself or your students/acquaintances:
